All these hints have been tried using automatic Hammer
Basic course, good for learning skiils on. Four corners, one in a tunnel.
Take this at full pace from the start, on subsequent laps, get to the outside, back off the accelerator slighlty, then power slide
This is inside the tunnel, get on the outside, turn HARD left under the second yellow sign, and power slide
Lift off the accelerator as you pass the second yellow sign, then accelerate out of the bend.
Take this flat out, corner nice and steady!
Alpine track, seven corners, one in a longer tunnel than Palm Town. Anyone know any consistent methods of getting round the missing corners, please let me know!
Flat out, every lap, from the ourside, gently steer into the inside, and keep it smooth!
Back off, ever so slightly, then full throttle through the corner
Flat out, every lap, from the ourside, gently steer into the inside, and keep it smooth!
Much trickier course, several fast sweeping corners, a trickey left, right, left combination, and several hairpins. The best tactic I've found so far for the tight hairpins, is to brake sharply at the last minute, which slows you down, but also induces a powerslide, so that you can powerslide through the corner
If anyone has any better ideas, let me know!
A one course race verus other drivers and a (very short) time limit. Change the amount of laps you can do via the options screen
Race each course, with your chose car. You must finish within the top three to progress to the next course, but you always start in last position.
There are three leagues, rookie, amateur and Pro's. You must get enough points to progress to the next league. If you win the Pro's league you progress to the Bullet league Winning the bullet league gives you access to the ultra-fast Bullet car. (376k) Only problem is, you have to beat the Bullet car in this league to get access to it!
This is all about driving fastest laps. You have one shot at breaking the current lap record. What makes this mode even more fun, is after you have the record, you race a ghost car in future attempts. This ghost car is the current fastest lap record holder!
Great fun! You don't have enough time to reach the next checkpoint, unless you can hit enough cones. Each cone gives you another second!
Similiar to cone carnage, except you must drive between two cones in order to get extra time, similiar to slalom skiing!
Whilst manual gears gives you a few extra kph, in my opinion, your best of starting with automatic, and getting used to the cars, tracks, handling etc. Manual gears can be useful to slow you down through a corner, however Power Sliding is a much better skill to learn.
All good racing games include this ability, and it is the only way to keep a good pace. Approach the corner on the outside, then turn hard into the corner. Keep your steering on full throughout the corner, then on the straight, use a little opposite lock to correct yourself, and you'll be flying around the corners. The first couple of times you try this, you'll slam into the walls, but stick at it, it's worth the time! As an extra hint, on Palm Town, try the power slide at the tunnel turn. Turn hard left just as your going under the yellow sign, hanging from the ceiling.
Thanks to Ashley Burgess for some more explanations and the hex edit trick
Type these in on the main screen. Note: I have yet to try these codes!
A sample 'so you want to play dirty' will play to let you know a code is accepted, also for the mirror and upside down the background and loading screen will change.
HACK to allow play without original cd. use a hex editor to edit startl.exe or starth.exe search for the hex string 75 10 BB 01 replace with EB 10 BB 01 this changes a conditional jump into a non conditional.
Anyone know of any more cheats? Please mail them to me!
